Useful Tip

Urinary infections can plague any breed or sex of dogs. If your dog frequently has urinary infections then you might consider giving them cranberry pills as a daily maintenance for a healthy urinary tract.  One of my females was plagued with urinary infections, seemed like it would be about two or three months between bouts.  I always took her to the vet for treatment; and kept her on antibiotics for ten days as recommended by the vet.  I also had her re-checked at the end of the antibiotics to make sure the urinary infection was gone.  I asked the vet if there was something I could use to maintain a healthier urinary tract for her; her recommendation was a very expensive prescription dog food.  Well I really did not want to go down that path; so I asked,  "what about giving her cranberry pills?"  She seemed skeptical but said go ahead and try it.  Well it has been very beneficial with her and seems to keep her tract healthy.
